Blogger is getting flexible day by day, the Blogger team are making certain changes to their different features. Blogger provides its users different built-in widgets which helps the users in making their blog looks more attractive and nice-looking. By default you can customize these widgets and you can make changes to them and also remove them. But you might have observed that many of the widgets are locked, although you can make changes to them but can’t remove them. EG. The Header Widget. Today in this tutorial we will let you learn how you can LOCK & UNLOCK the certain widgets in blogger and remove them if you need to. So let’ start:
1. Log-in to your Blogger Dashboard.
2. Go to Layout, here you see the widgets you have added.
3. Get the ID of the widget by placing the cursor at the “EDIT” button of the widget you want to make changes to.
4. You will see the link of the widget appearing in STATUS BAR at the bottom of your browser.
5. Note the Widget ID, that appears between widgetid= and &action.
How TO LOCK The Widget?
The widget you want to LOCK looks like the following in UNLOCK mode:
As you see there is REMOVE button hanging at the bottom, to lock the certain widget we will now delete this REMOVE button.
Note:- To apply changes to anything, first Backup your Blogger Template (Click Here To See How?)
1. Go to Template > Edit HTML.
2. Inside HTML EDITOR, press CTRL+F and search for the WIDGET ID as in my case it’s “HTML1”.
3. You will find the code similar to:
<b:widget id='HTML1' locked='false' title='Header' type='HTML'/>
4. Now to LOCK the widget, change locked=”false” to locked=”true”.
5. Click “Save Template”.
6. Now go again to “Layout Page” > Click the EDIT Button on the widget.
7. The widget you have locked looks like the following:
You will see that there is no REMOVE button hanging at the bottom of the Widget window, which means your widget is now locked. You can now only Edit the widget but cannot remove it.
How TO UNLOCK The Widget?
To unlock the widget simply repeat the above steps and set locked=”true” to locked=”false”.
That’s All.
Happy Blogging.
